Barbara J. Perutelli

Attorney Barbara J. PerutelliBarbara J. Perutelli (bperutelli@slblawfirm.com) is a principal and co-manager of  this firm, and has practiced with Schulman, LeRoy & Bennett since 1984. She received a B.S. from The University of Memphis in 1969 and a J.D. from the Nashville School of Law in 1984. Her primary area of practice is civil litigation, which includes insurance defense, insurance coverage, eminent domain, condemnation,  public utility easements, business and contract disputes. Her practice includes landlord and tenant litigation, representing both commercial and residential owners and management companies.  She also practices before the State Board of Equalization regarding real property tax appeals.

She is named in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers. She maintains a Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating of A-V which is its highest rating for ethical standards and professional ability based on independent evaluations by other lawyers and judges. She is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in American Law. She is listed in Mid-South Super Lawyers in the area of insurance coverage and is included in A.M. Best Recommended Insurance Attorneys.

She has served by appointment as a hearing committee member to the Tennessee Supreme Court Board of Professional Responsibility. She is a member of the Nashville, Williamson County, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations and was the 1997-98 President of Lawyers Association for Women. Ms. Perutelli has been an officer and board member of the Nashville Bar Association, and has chaired its Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee and its Chancery and Circuit Court Committee.

She has chaired the Tennessee Bar Association’s Lawyer’s Professional Liability Insurance Committee. She is by invitation, a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation and of the Tennessee Bar Foundation. She has been a member of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court ( Davidson County)and is currently a member of the John Marshall American Inn of Court (Williamson County). She has conducted seminars on premises liability, bad faith insurance litigation and insurance claims handling issues.
