In Memoriam
Gary S. Rubenstein
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our esteemed colleague and friend, Gary S. Rubenstein. A principal of the firm, Gary was a cornerstone of SLB Law since he began practicing with us in 1977. For nearly five decades, he exemplified great dedication, legal excellence, and mentorship that left an indelible mark on our practice and the broader legal community.
Gary received his B.A. from Purdue University in 1973 and earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1977, where he served as President of the Law School from 1976 to 1977. His leadership during those formative years was a precursor to the integrity and professionalism he brought to every aspect of his legal career.
He was a trusted advisor to numerous management companies across Middle Tennessee and a leading authority in the landlord/tenant space. His commitment to education and advocacy extended beyond the courtroom—he was a proud member of the Tennessee Apartment Association and a sought-after lecturer, providing continuing legal and real estate education to professionals across the state.
He was also an active member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, always striving to contribute meaningfully to the legal profession he so deeply respected.
More than his many accomplishments, Gary will be remembered for his calm wisdom, sharp intellect, and warm generosity. He was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to many within our firm and beyond.
We are grateful for the time we shared with Gary and for the legacy he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will continue to guide us for years to come.
